By the end of this examination you will have a thorough understanding of what areas of the neck and shoulders are affected. Dr. stephanie guides you in self-assessment of:

    • Imbalance of muscular activity around the shoulders can results in pain. Learn how your rotator cuff and scapular muscles are functioning.

    • Loss of mobility in one or both shoulders can cause pain but it can also create tension in the neck due to overuse.

As a physical therapist first, Stephanie blends her knowledge of human movement and disease with yoga to provide classes for healing of injury and for chronic disease management. She graduated from Ohio State as a physical therapist in 1990. In the ten years following, she earned a MS in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and a PhD in Education. Throughout her career she has been a clinician, an educator, and a researcher. Through this she has built a health and wellness practice specializing in the treatment of people with musculoskeletal conditions with a particular interest in spinal disorders. Her years as a physical therapist influences her yoga practice to be focused on alignment, muscle activation consistent with functional movement patterns, and modifying poses to meet the needs of each person.

She developed this practice in healing her own chronic pain. As the aches and pains ebb and flow in daily life, she brings awareness to physical, mental and spiritual stressors. Each day she uses breathing, meditation, mindful living, nutrition and movement to LIVE MORE WITH LESS PAIN.
